EVENTs and Sales

The Friends sponsor several events and exhibits every year, including our quarterly book sales and special creative programs.

The Friends Bookstore is on the left wall inside the library entrance. All proceeds benefit the Friends. We sell a variety of current magazines and paperbacks (50 cents each) and newer books of all genres. Hardcover and softcover books are individually priced. A free-standing bookcase holds a variety of individually priced books.

We hold book sales three Saturdays per year, usually in March, July, and November, and outdoors if the weather permits. Our next book sale is scheduled for Saturday, July 15, 2023, 10am to 2pm.

We hold several silent auctions per year. Items for sale are displayed for one month in the community window near the staff desk. Most silent auctions have a theme, such as special holiday gifts or Mother's Day items. The next Silent Auction is scheduled for May 2023.

Several months a year, we invite Nipomo nonprofit and community groups to display their activities in the Friends' community window near the staff desk. Some of the groups have included SLO Womenade, the Nipomo High School Drama Club, the Nipomo Food Basket, the Nipomo Native Garden, and the Nipomo 4H Club. If your group would like to sponsor a display, please contact us at

Some of the programs we have sponsored include the annual Trilogy Art Group Art Show and the Watermedia Exhibit of the Monday Morning Painters of the Central Coast Watercolor Society, both of which benefit the Friends. See News and Photos for some pictures of these events.

Please bring new and gently used books, CDs, DVDs, audiobooks, puzzles, and silent auction items to the library during regular hours. We cannot accept dirty, mildewed, or damaged items. For pickup of large donations, contact us at

SPECIAL HELP WANTED! Needed: Someone to sell used books for the Friends on eBay. Every once in a while our sorters come across a donation that can fetch more online than at our in-person book sales. It's not a big job (maybe one book a month) ... we just need a volunteer willing to take it on. For details, contact Marie Kyle at 805-219-0357.
